Martin hails from Dover with a family tradition deeply steeped in maritime affairs.
Martin joined Francis and Arnold, London in 1973 assisting with claims for several major London and Piraeus based Greek clients.
In 1975 Martin accepted an offer to relocate to Francis and Arnold Piraeus Office where he handled all manner of cases with local Greek clients, and more particularly with major Middle East clients such as Kuwait Oil Tankers, United Arab Shipping Company and other shipping companies in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other Gulf states.
Martin has also given lectures to visiting Iranian delegations on subjects such as comparisons between the various Loss of Hire policies.
Martin has dealt with a wide variety of claims on all types of vessels such as Oil Tankers, Gas Carriers, rig support vessels, container ships, bulkers and general cargo ships and fishing vessels.
Martin is familiar with cases involving complex Salvage operations, collisions/recoveries, complex General Average claims, Loss of Hire, and more recently has prepared an adjustment following the capture and seizure of a laden VLCC by Somali pirates.
