Taygetos Mountain Challenge 2015
Independent were pleased to sponsor the Taygetos Mountain Challenge for the first time in March 2015.
This running event is based in Kardamyli, Peloponnese and has three categories, the full Marathon of 42 km up to Taygetos, as well as a 20 km “Experience” run which rises to about 1.000 metres above sea level and a 5 km “Fun” run.
More than 400 runners took part in all categories.
This part of the Peloponnese has some dramatic scenery and the race organizers have chosen wisely to base themselves in Kardamyli.
In addition to organizing a bicycle and running race, they also clear and maintain walking paths and open upon new areas for access and enjoyment. We think it’s a good cause.
This year the Marathon was won by Dimitris Theodorakakos in a time of 3hrs 39.46m
The “Experience” run ended in a dead heat! The winners were Michael Foteinos and Christos Papageorgos who completed the run in 1hr 48.49m
Rodney Cook travelled from London to participate in the 20 km and clocked a creditable time of 2hrs 20m
